I tricked out my Taranis shell in my own style. I still need to order the speaker upgrade before I re-body it, but I'm digging it. I don't like shiny new looking stuff.

The gold leaf in that light almost looks like the faux wood paneling on the outside of the LTD stationwagon or in the interior of some current car models. If you did that, you'd have a LTD Edition of the Taranis. Most younger people wouldn't get the double entendre.

Base coat gray primer, second coat red oxide primer, them tear bits of masking tape roughly and place on edges that you wish to show wear.
Then lightly and selectively paint with O.D. green. Next remove masking tape. Painted the red bits, I then apply Sophisticated finishes http://www.modernoptions.com/
after that I hit it with a bunch of layers of semi gloss clear. BOOM! you’ve got a 50yo metal cased Taranis!!!

Well, I’m almost done with my Taranis makeover. After I put it all together I was surprised at how much the switches and buttons look out of place. So now I’m going to have to open it back up so I can paint those bits that are still shiny. I need to find more appropriate sticks as well, these look to modern. I also did the speaker upgrade while I had it apart and WOW it sounds so much better now. I need to put some music on it now. Lol
