I installed the receiver tonight. Since it's an electric plane, I just put 4 drops of medium CA on the plywood and then a strip of velcro. I unhooked the ESC from the AURA and then plugged it into the receiver per the manual. I will probably go back and put a piece of the gray foam tape on the connections to keep them in the AURA like on a flybarless unit.

After that I installed the pushrods, servo arms, and the horizontal stab/elevators. I didn't loctite the servo screws yet because I still need to do the radio setup and to make sure everything is adjusted properly.

I glued on the Cabane struts last night and then worked on trying to get it ready to maiden today. It's a good thing I gave up because I was trying to use the receiver for the Raven and I didn't want to lose my settings. Plus I need to change the mode of my receiver so that everything goes out the S. Bus port.

Other than a few minor things, it is put together. One thing I will be doing for sure is buying some pan head screws so a day of flying won't be ruined by a stripped screw. I'll look around to see if I can find some that are hex head.

I changed the modes on my receiver and now everything is working somewhat. Maybe it's because I had the throttle stick at mid stick until I remapped the channels in the reversed it. The elevator needed to be reversed too so I'll get some more information when I get home after my work trip and send it to Flex Innovations.

After that I needed to switch to another project. I bought a new depth finder last year on a Cyber Week deal and I've been putting off making the mount for my kayak because of time and how much work I thought it would be.

It turns out this hobby has given me some good problem solving skills and having 2 heat guns helped to shape the PVC pipe.

All I have left to do is to buy a retaining pin and drill the hole for it.

I have also ordered some replacement hex head flanged button head screws for the Mamba. And once again my pet peeve of the shipping being the same as what I'm buying occurred.

Quick update on my transducer mount, I got rushed but thoughtfully put a hole in it that since it was not in the right spot, has little impact on needing to do V2. I just secured it with a zip tie and I'll use that to help figure out where I need to drill with a proper pin. I went to the Tournament and did not fish due to the winds being too severe.

I worked on cleaning up my workshop today because things got really crowded trying to get get things worked on and ready. I have space and I need to use it better. I started by clearing out some pieces of MDF and other wood. The MDF was cut down and 90+ percent of it is in the attic for storage. The Mamba 60E was relocated to that wall and the Raven is back on the bench. I plan on doing some work on the Mamba but just getting that stuff moved really opened up some space.

I have a LOT of organization left to do but I want to get the Mamba flying so I have a plane to fly with. Of course I want to get the Raven finally ready to go too and I don't mind having to move it every once in a while if I need to work on something else on the workbench.

Couple different projects today.

I finally got around to removing the axles to pull off the gear cuffs. After that I cut out the openings for the horizontal stab and the wing tube.

In the afternoon I worked on some rearranging that came to mind and I think I'm going to like this setup better. From there I went back to the Laser to center the horizontal stab and then I looked at the alignment with the wing tube. I still need to measure the distances to the tube ends and tips of the stab, but I got to get the horizontal stab glued in tomorrow.

The horizontal stab is in and hopefully not going anywhere. I measured and re-measured multiple times so everything should be lined up.

I also noticed the stab seemed to be slightly off so I secured one side with some thin CA and then used a piece of masking tape to pull down slightly.

Because of the way the slot is, there was some gap so I mixed up a batch of 5 minute epoxy with some micro balloons and worked it in. I wasn't after strength as much as trying to fill it in.

Wow, I need to check in on you more often. A Mamba 60? SWEET!
I'm with you on the crap hardware though, it's terrible. There is one screw in my cabanes with a busted head that I have no idea how I will remove. Good thing mine's just the Mamba 10 and fits in the car assembled!

Thanks Chris!

I got the Elevator and Throttle reversed and checked the AURA reactions in Mode 3. It was correcting in the right direction so I'm going to say it's probably OK to have to reverse a few channels. I put the prop and spinner on and I'm going to try to get the Mamba 60 balanced tomorrow. After that I'm going to look into adjusting the linkages to need less trim.

I also started cleaning up the bolts and standoffs for mounting the VVRC 35 into the Raven. The smudge on the paper towel is from oil residue on the outside of the standoffs. The bolts left a fair amount of oily residue on paper towelling after I wiped them down.
