There is one guy interested in it but he basically wants me to all but cover it. My current thoughts are that if I'm going to take it that far, I might as well finish it and keep it.

We are doing some filming outside of Great Bend, Kansas for work and I had known about their RC club since they hold a pattern contest annually. I had wanted to go this year but since it is next week and I'll be driving home from Oklahoma on Friday, probably not going to load up the DeJaVu and turn around to go back.

I have looked at where their field is in the past and I stopped by Monday to just look at it from the highway, which I couldn't really see much. However on Tuesday afternoon there were a couple guys out flying so I stopped in and chatted a little bit. They were very friendly and if I'm back in the area in 2 weeks, I'm going to have bring a plane with me just in case someone is out flying.

The club is known as Model Association of Central Kansas and they have both a Facebook page and a website (http://mackrc.net/?i=1).

For some reason I got it in my head on Sunday when I left for my work trip that I would fix my Parkzone Radian. I started that process tonight be gluing the horizontal stab half back together with foam safe CA. The elevator was also broken so I hit it with the CA and then used some of the carbon that I used to reinforce the Cadence wings with the Zpoxy finishing resin to hopefully secure both halves together.

I will see how things look in the morning and I might try to take it out tomorrow and fly it. If everything goes well, I will probably start working on some of Paul Naton's upgrades/modifications to it.

Well I made it out to the field today and took the Radian with me. I put 3 flights on it and there will be no more. My first battery was at 60% after the first 15+ minute flight and batter 2 was at 66% after the second flight. I wanted to discharge the batteries some more so I just left battery 2 in for the third flight. I was catching some really good thermals and got up to a pretty good altitude. Jeff was out at the field and we were chatting when I looked away for something and then lost where the plane was. My guess is it got into some turbulence in the thermal and maybe it tore off the horizontal stab/elevator. I drove up and down the road looking for it and then finally found it just off of one of the corners of the flying field.

I checked the battery level when I got home and I had only used 3%. I just wish I would've taken my phone with me when I finally found it. I had to walk thorugh some tall grass and my wife was needing me home though.

I had fun, I thankfully got my battery and reciever back, and most importantly I didn't damage any property.

The weather has been nice and I decided to try flying on a Saturday morning which is when I think the main crowd is out at the field. I took my oldest and it was nice to be out flying with other people.

Someone who is new to the hobby was also out and getting help with his aircraft.

I just renewed my AMA membership for another year. I guess we will see if I can get out of the funk I'm in too as I go through the feeling of not being that inspired a decent amount these days.

My initial thoughts are that it's just depression and worry about the future because of COVID19 and that I'll get over it as we get through the pandemic.

And I guess this weekend will be a good test for me. I was planning on just helping with our club's pattern contest this year and not participating but some other members have volunteered to help and so I'm going to contribute my participating. I'm taking Friday afternoon off to get a couple practice rounds in and we'll see what happens this weekend.

One of the people at the F3A team trials last week has now tested positive for COVID19. Others that were planning on attending our contest were around him and are currently getting tested. Given the risk of getting it in the case of a false negative, I guess I will be doing other things this weekend. Kind of a bummer because I started looking forward to flying in the contest even though I haven't done any pattern for a few months now.

Step one tonight was to get my workbench cleaned up and organized. After that I removed the tape from the balsa skin joints on one side. That was about all I had time for this evening but I'm hoping to get around to doing something on a regular basis.

I got the tape on the other side of the left wing panel removed and started sanding down the excess sheeting.

I also got a Mojo 40 short kit in today.
