I now have both ailerons done minus sanding the bevels for the leading edges. I was able to get the first one done and then I built the second one on top with a piece of wax paper between them so they wouldn't stick together. The result is two ailerons that match.

Horizontal stab and elevator for the Skeeter are done. I also worked on the head for the 516. It turns out I had an additional radial bearing sitting on my desk that I'm not sure where it came from but was the same size as the ones I was replacing. So I put everything back together once and one of the blade grips was really notchy. I eventually got it all sorted out and both are smooth.

The rudder and fuse for the Skeeter 40 are done. The next step is to sheet the fuselage but I want to have the motor I'm going to use before I do the sheeting. The recommended motor is the Torque 2818/900 but I'm going to look around at other options. I also need to see what ESCs I have that could work too. Servos are also in question but I'm going to deal with the motor first. More business travel over the next 2 weeks so I'm going to start with the motor and then just keep on working on it.

https://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20180924/HR302.pdf The portion that applies to hobbyist begins on Page 282. Doesn't seem too bad at first glance but as the AMA stated, there are provisions for more rule making. |

I've been wanting to try a Leopard motor and they have one close to the recommended Torque so I have a 3536-8T ordered from AltitudeHobbies.com. https://www.altitudehobbies.com/collect ... lane-motor I was digging through some stuff today and found both a YEP 45A ESC and a ZTW 50A ESC. I need to check BEC specks and I'll go off of weight and BEC power to make a decision. I also have 4 Hextronik 14MG servos for a full fuse 3DHS foamy I had that I plan to use for now. They are about the same size as a Hitec 65MG I think so I'll start out with those. I believe I also have an APC 12x6 electric prop. Given the amount of covering on rolls I have, the only thing I should need to complete the Skeeter is a battery, receiver, and some graphics. |

I was able to get to the field today despite the overcast skies. I did the maiden and second flight on the Byp Yak. The one thing I forgot to do was change the ESC connector to APPs. Thankfully I had my crimping tool and the parts on me to get it done. The Byp Yak flies interesting and slow. On the second flight I noticed the aileron trim kept changing depending upon how fast I was flying. After landing I found one of the aileron servo tabs had broken loose. Easy enough fix. I also took the DeJaVu of course. I have been focusing probably too much on keeping the wings level which is good but my sequences seemed to be getting worse. So on the 4th and last flight of the day, I just went back to what I was doing before and the sequence was a lot better. We will see how things go at the contest next week. I'm not overly happy with my progress but things didn't go as I hoped this year and I just have to keep going and continue trying to make progress.

Ewww.... deans connector! ![]() I almost hate to admit it, but I just swapped a lot of my stuff over to XT60. It was time to replace the contacts in many of the APPs, so I just decided to mix things up. |

I'm thinking of using the APPs for small amperage stuff since I have the tools and don't fly them much these days, using XT60 for 45-60 amp stuff, and XT90s for the 70-100 amp stuff except pattern. I may switch pattern over to XT90s but the Deans is very common among other pilots and if I stick with the GForce batteries, they come with imitation Deans on them. |
