Yeah, it started as a local deal here in California, mainly around Sacramento. But it spread and grew to the point that last year or the year before, it became an official event at the Nationals in Muncie. Frankly, pylon racing itself seems to be kind of an anomaly, still has a huge following, at least in the west. Races in SoCal and Arizona have to limit contestants at times because it gets unmanageable.
Since magazines (RCM,MAN, AMA) aren't as big of a deal anymore, I think most people miss some of these things.
