I haven't installed the haptic module yet, but I did get the "real" Spektrum module installed tonight. I followed the guidelines from this wiki, including using the 3.3v UBEC instead of scavenging the regulator from the donor TX. The hardest part was desoldering the darn thing from the board in the DX5e!
The antenna from the DX5e is mounted inside the back case of the Taranis, up near the top. I haven't range tested it yet, but in theory it should work fine there. The most amazing part is, the magic smoke stayed in and it works! 8-)
I also added a piece of fuel tubing over the friction strap on the throttle stick, it feels amazing! It was pretty good with light tension and some molykote grease, but now it's just fantastic.

Chris,

When you set up a model with a Spektrum Rx, is it still PPM?

Thanks.

Not with the 'real' Spektrum module hack. In that case you choose DSM2/DSMX.

Wow, you're not likely to lose that one in a crowd! :)

Where does the 6 position switch go, and what would you use it for?

I put it here. You can use it for whatever but I was thinking flight modes would be good. Not sure yet but installed it while I had it open.

Love the exotic case. Did you have it done custom or can you purchase it online?

Chris, Helibatics has the 6 position install info on there YouTube site: https://youtu.be/Ts0EzeJsoNc

Thanks, Yeah I picked up the switch and used the Helibatics video to put it in. Very helpful and a great guy. He's here local so it makes it nice if you need anything FrSky!

I did have the case done by Lone Star Hydrographics here in McKinney. They can do them custom or if you want one already done, they are doing the ones for Aloft Hobbies.

Ok, I really like the yellow pattern you have. It kinda matches my Goldwing.

Bought a blank body and painted it up. Started with some silver paint for plastic and then a lot of coats of Dupli-Color metallic spray paint. My wife said it looked like Iron Man.

I have a second TX at work for the micros and I think I'll do that one in Metallic Cobalt Blue.
