I decided to relocate the electronics in my Splinter-V to a 250 Pro Nighthawk frame. I think the Splinter frame was more CA than plywood. I also decided to try a Graupner GR-18 loaded with the new multicopter firmware to cut down on weight and wiring.

I have to say that Graupner got it right. The quad flew great with the default settings. There's a slight wobble coming out of a roll or flip, which I'm guessing can be dialed out with D gain. That's the only flaw that I noticed. I've never felt so closely connected to a quad.

Things just got a whole lot better. Graupner now sells a GR-18 with the same flight controller but without the barometric sensor for $99! Initially, I was told it would only support multicopters, but Graupner decided to support planes and helis too.

I plan to pick one up and finally set up my Atom with it. I like having the vario for my FPV quad to keep me from getting too high.
