In this episode: Bobby and Chris are joined by Ben and two guests: First up is Dave Hodgeson, North American Distributor for Zeiss. Dave tells us about the amazing cinemizer® OLED video glasses from Zeiss, as well as some other interesting things about the hobby industry. And at the opposite end of the cost and complexity scale, our next guest is Matt Hall, owner of SimpleCopter.com. Matt talks about his products, and Ben announces who the lucky recipient is of the Mini V multirotor Matt generously donated to the show. Tune in!

That was a fun show. Between Dave and Matt enabling no doubt people should hide their wallets prior to listening. ;)

Goggles.

Fatshark Dominator HD $550.

Cinemizer OLED $780

Worth $230 more? Probably.

Or should I wait until Samsung announces their entry?

Cinemizer wins. The Samsung unit does not stand alone.

Nice show...

Bobby,

Ditch the training wheels. They promote negative learning. Here's why: 90% of "keeping balance" on a two wheel bike is really steering to keep the bike UNDER the rider's CG. Think about it. It's way harder to "balance" on a bike when you are still. Training wheels impedes your kid's feedback loop by limiting what are essentially the "endpoints" of how far he can steer his bike so that it stays "under" his CG.

The best way to expedite learning a two wheel bike is to remove the pedals...have him scoot around for a while. Another way is to get him a scooter. Once he sorts out steering control...re-install the pedals...Pedaling is an academic drill and can be mastered within a couple of tries. It also helps to have them intentionally fall (in grass...LOLs) so that they get over the fear of spilling.

Check this out:

Thanks for the tips.

Funny how my boys are so much alike and yet so different. Both can learn anything they want quickly when they decide to. Blane was jumping from couch to couch last night which is about 6 feet away. No way Bryce would make it. Of course Bryce is 3" taller and 10 lbs heavier. Blane is also the one that swims better. Main problem with him is when he decided to fear something, he is all in. I've considered getting rid of his bike with the training wheels so he has no choice, but he wouldn't want to ride anymore. He has no interest in riding without training wheels. The way I have taught other kids and Bryce was by finding a gradual downhill that is grass. Bryce literally learned in no time. It was insane. Blane can already ride without training wheels as long as my hand is on his shoulder. Take it off and he tries to grab it with his hand. :face My goal is to have him donate his bike with training wheels to a kid in need by the end of the week. With him it is the psychological battle I must win. :rolling
