Is there anything Bobby doesn't have? :)

I'd like to get a DLG but not sure how it would do in the West Texas wind. Might have to start looking for a good used one.

Bobby has one, which he bought assembled with servos installed, and I even installed one of my custom-molded carbon "T" blades in the wing. And yet, he still hasn't flown it. :face

I got to fly with Oleg, Dick, Jeff Carr, and several other notable names in the F3K world last weekend at D.E.S.S. at a mini Fest they held.

Talk about a learning experience!!

Until this point, all I had done was work on launches, and concentrate on keeping the plane in the air as long as possible. While that isn't a bad thing, it doesn't not prepare one for F3K tasks. The first round was 5, 2 minute flights in 10 minutes..I started strong with a 1:58, but the remaining 4 flights were all right around a minute..

Anyway, we flew 10 rounds, and even though I didn't fly great, (matter of fact I completely bombed the round I flew with Oleg) I had a great time, and learned allot. I have made a list of things I need to address with my plane as well as a couple of programming changes I want to make to the radio, and hopefully I will get a chance to work on those this weekend, if the weather cooperates.

I placed 11 out of 13, which isn't bad considering every one there has competed in all the major DLG events on the East Coast. Hopefully I will improve before my club's contest in March.

If you have ever thought about picking up a DLG...do it. It is allot of fun, and if you get a chance to fly tasks with some other guys, then by all means jump in! All those "top notch" guys were very helpful, and treated me like i had flown with them for years.

I'm jealous... Iflyos, you live close enough to go fly with the dess guys over in Wilson. I had a chance to meet Oleg Golovidov and Dick Proseus last weekend at my first f3k contest down in Atlanta... Great guys with a ton of experience. Going to s competition and seeing how high those guys throw, and how far they fly downwind has truly stretched my impression of what is possible.

That's awesome, Tim! I really need to get myself a "real" DLG in my fleet. The Libelle is fun, but doesn't launch very high.
