Thanks! I'm going to go nuts on the fuselage and tail section too. It won't look much like an Oly when I'm done with it. :)

Thanks Ben! It's coming along nicely, left wing is shaping up.

It's been a while since I've updated this thread! Building has been slowly continuing, it is a hobby after all. :)

Both wings are ready for servo installation, the power system has arrived and been bench tested, and the fuselage is well along. The electric conversion is very much left up to your imagination, and it's been a "make it up as I go along" kind of thing. As a result, it looks a bit rough right now but it'll smooth up and be pretty when I'm done.

Thanks! I always enjoy building wings. Fuselages, not so much.

Work continues. The top hatch area is dressed down, and the tail feathers are glued on and faired in. Almost ready for radio installation and covering! And speaking of covering, I did some test pieces using Doculam and spray paint. In the two examples, the balsa has been treated with 2 coats of sanding sealer (Minwax brand) and hit with a light coat of spray paint. The inside of the Doculam was also misted with the same color(s). It looks pretty cool, methinks.

Good to see you are still flying. Wondering how you guys have been. Hope Bobby is still having fun in RC too.

I recently discovered this receiver that is awesome for gliders:

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthr ... with-Vario

Only 4.5 grams without case. Gives vario function on any newer Spektrum radio. I'm planning on trying one in a DLG so I can see how high I throw, aid in thermal detection since I still suck at that, etc...

Frsky have a similar one as well, although a little heavier at 5.8g.
