I received my Blade 350 QX this past Thursday. I couldn't believe everything Blade included in this package. Here is the one I have.
http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/35 ... gy-BLH7880

The package includes:
the 350 QX ready to go
3s 2200mah lipo battery
Lipo charger that may not be the greatest, but hey...it works!
GoPro camera mount that screws onto the 350 QX, but uses rubber cushions to isolate vibrations.

I watched this video here on exactly to set up my DX8...

Only part I differed of was setting my throttle cut to the Mix switch that us heli guys are used to.

This past Saturday I headed out to ARCA in Austin for a great afternoon of flying. I literally programmed my DX8, bound to the quad and went to fly. Just too darn simple really. ;)

Right out of the box the 350 QX flew fantastic. On the first flight I was already flying it very comfortably, and doing flips, roll and anything else I could think of. I also tested the "return to home" feature and it worked perfectly.

With only a single flight on it I threw on the FPV and had some fun. This thing was so fun I was flying carefully through the trees in no time. Unfortunately I had a bit of an issue with the Mobius Action Cam interfering with the GPS and radio signal so it looks like I have a few repairs ahead of me. :face

I have really enjoyed mine despite a few issues. Much more fun to fly than I imagined a quad might be. And the GPS and altitude hold are cool. Return to home is even cooler. I wish the body was a bit more durable. Here is Carter flying my 350 QX in agility mode. When he lost the tail he hit throttle hold. I believe that if he had tried either the safe mode or return to home the quad would have leveled on its own. It was his first time flying a quad I think. It was also about 36 degrees.

I watched the video carefully and I think I see the problem. It appears that the tail was missing from the beginning if the flight. ;-)

So Kevin, other than the mechanical failure when trying to trim that tree, how did the 5.8 setup do when flying through there?

Hey Chris the video was perfect when I went through trees. I had more trouble with the video skipping in and out when I was about 300 yards out in front of the trees and loaded to the ground. When I had it up real high I took it about a quarter of a mile before I lost radio contact (unlike Bobby's mind returned home) the video was perfect.

Chris, to expand on your question to Morris, I've read that a lower frequency like 900mhz is better for bending around bigger objects like buildings, but that shorter frequencies like 5.8 ghz can be better for penetrating small holes, like through trees or woods.

On my 5.8ghz 250mw tx with cheap ebay cloverleafs, I can penetrate about 40-75ft of woods before getting barely usable footage, and I really don't notice much reception loss until that point, the picture remains clear.

I took this photo from my front porch. I can go up that road in the left of the picture about 100' from the point where the woods start blocking my LOS, and the woods are rather dense with smaller brush and trees as you can see.

Glad to see your 350qx goin' Bobby! Glad to see so much fpv going on, I never realized it would be this much fun! So far no issues with an unshielded Mobius with my Taranis or Multiwii GPS. Btw Chris, did you ever get your taranis? Perfect fpv radio, great distance, and I can have it announce my RSSI signal strength every 5 seconds with the flip of a switch so I know if I'm getting close to the edge!
