Hi Guys

Well its finally happened i have placed the order for the first production run of frames and spares. :D
Man this project took longer than i anticipated! :face

I have limited frames available so will be sold on a first come first serve basis, if your interested in buying a frame please mention it in this thread AND send me a PM.
I will not accept any payments until i have the frames in hand and ready to ship. I expect to receive them in approximately 10 days from now.

Both version of the frame will come with the rubber isolation mounts for the upper frame, m3 nylon bolts and metal nuts plus a couple spares, tie wraps for mounting the motors.

The frames do NOT come with landing gear, they are designed to use Blade 300x landing gear (shown in the pictures) but you could use anything that you feel will work for you.
I have a few sets of Blade 300x landing gear i can offer for sale but only a couple. Please ask in PM if you would like a set for your frame.

The Tricopter Frame will come with the wooden pieces needed for mounting the tail motor to the servo horn, you will need to glue it together and sand to shape then drill for you particular servo horn.(not shown in photos) I will start a build thread in the near future detailing how this can be done. Its easier than it sounds.

Both frames will be able to run upto 6 inch props without issues.

Both frames use the same upper electronics frame and can accept ALMOST any flight controller. My favorites are the small foot print ones such as the Flip 1.5, CC3D, Naze32 etc but a big ol KK2.xx will also fit, just. I doubt the latest APM will fit due to its rectangular shape.

Please note that the frames are designed for sport FPV flying as opposed to full on crazy racing type stuff. They are pretty durable. I have crash tested from about 40-60 foot into grass without damage but they will not be as strong as some of the FPV racing frames built from carbon fiber with aluminium standoffs. But the again these frames are no where near the same price either.
Not to say that you cant use them for racing though!!
I will be racing mine for sure at the RCTS even in November!!

The upper plat of the frame has been designed to accept a Mobius action camera for recording your flights. Although this has yet to be tested as i don't own one....yet....
(I need to sell a few of these frames first!)

spare arms and spare complete upper frames will be available for all frames plus some optional arms for the Mini Vtail to convert it to a more traditional quad layout. (See pics below)

Here are the option arms that will allow you to convert the Mini Vtail to a traditional quad layout.

The motor mounts can accept a variety of ways to mount your motors. My preferred method is to use the x mount with zip ties but you can also screw the motor direct to the arm.
The bolt hole pattern will accept either motors with bolt spacing's at 12x16mm (normally 2mm bolts) and 16x19mm (normally 3mm bolts) if i remember correctly!
Here its shown with Sunnysky 2204 2300kv motors installed with x mount and zip ties but you can clearly see how you would bolt the motors on if you so desired.

There are quite allot of electronics that will work well for this size and you may have your own preferences.
The following is far from an exhaustive list.

Flight Controllers
My personal favorite running MultiWii 2.3 great performer and great price Awesome when paired with a 6channel Lemon RX to create a Lemon Flip!
Flip 1.5

Nice Flight controller from openpilot as used by the world famous Juz70 very nice GUI
CC3D

Also popular FC
Naze32

Only use a KK2.XX when it has been flashed with either Steveis Firmware or RC911 NEVER use with original supplied Firmware!!
KK2.0

As Above Only use a KK2.XX when it has been flashed with either Steveis Firmware or RC911 NEVER use with original supplied Firmware!!
KK2.1.5

Motors
This is the motor that the frame was originally designed around due to its popularity
SunnySky 2204 2300KV
Works well on 5inch props and 6 inch props

This motor also works well on 5 and 6 inch props and is more cost effective with nice long motor wires.
DYS BE1806 2300KV

Another strong contender for a good price
EMAX MT-1806 2280KV

Speed Controllers
I have had great luck with these, although the name is a little misleading as they run BLHeli firmwahere for silabs chips NOT simonk firmware!
EMAX Simon Series 12A ESC

I have high hopes for these 4 in one 12 amp esc due to the small 35x35 form factor. They can be stacked with the Flip 1.5, Naze32 and CC3D for a very compact system.
Although there are plenty of arguments for and against all in one systems. I am looking forward to testing the ones i have.
RTF Mini "4-in-1" 12-Amp ESC (35x35)

Another very good low cost 12 amp esc
F-12A Fire Red series SimonK-(RapidESC)

Receiver
Very nice quality low cost DSM2 compatible full range 6 channel receiver that works exceptionally well when mounted directly to the Flip 1.5 Flight controller creating what is known as a Lemon Flip!
This leads to a very nice and compact system
Lemon 6-Channel Receiver (No Pin)

Tail Servo for Tricopter
This is the one i am currently using on my prototype Tricopter frame. Its a little large but works well.
BMS-385DMAX Digital Servo (Metal Gear) 4.2kg / .15sec / 16.5g
Anysimilar spec metal gear servo should work equally well.

DISCLAIMER
Please note that i have recommended purchasing from RTFQuads as he has some very nice products at very good prices, however his customer service leaves allot to be desired.
You will have to wait approx 2 weeks for your order to ship. Don't expect him to ship faster, or answer the phone, or emails. Although he has been very reliable for me, just painfully slow.

FPV Gear
These frames are designed around sport flying FPV. I had park flying and proximity flying in mind when i designed these frames but you can of course use them for FPV racing as well.

The main camera mount is designed for a traditional board cam that has the smaller form factor 32mmx 32mm NOT the 38x38 size.
This is the Sony Camera that i use with good results.

The frame also has a dedicated space for moutning a Video TX at the rear in the vertical position.
This is primarliy designed for the ImmersionRC / Fatshark series of VTX i use the 600mw VTX on all my FPV models.
It can be found here at Readymade RC

Any similar size VTX should fit, there is allowance for 2 velcro straps to secure it in place.
Maximum width would be approx. 31mm

I will continue to update the above as and when i get the time / information etc.

To give you a rough idea of cost the electronics package will set you back approx $166 bucks if you go with the following from RTFQ
4x SunnySky 2204 2300kv motors
1x Flip 1.5 FC
1x 4 in 1 12 amp esc
1x 6channel Lemon RX
misc props etc

I will also be offering a complete RTF build service on a customer by customer basis if your are interested. PM me to discuss.
This will probably be at a cost plus 25% kind of arrangement or something like that.

I already have two Vtail builds on order.
