I have been using GemFam props and they are fatiguing at the hub and breaking on my quad. So I am going to go the carbon fiber route. I want the bright color to help with orientation. Is there a way I can color the carbon and preserve the balance and strength?

Your only choices are paint or stick-on vinyl. Either way you will have to rebalance.

Probably a bit off topic, but several years ago I was challenged to provide colored PVC for conduit in a very caustic environment. After the paint fell off three times, we were on a quest to dye PVC. After several nights and a few beers we figured out that if you mixed Rit dye with clear PVC cleaner the color was then etched into the plastic. Still there today (4 years). Have no idea what the current plastic props are made of, but makes me want to give it a shot.

Regarding carbon fiber, we just had two 30" airbrushed at oversprayer.com but don't think anyone would want to spend that kind of money on a quad (never know)

T-motor makes 29" props, and the Steadidrone QU4DX comes with 28" props: http://www.steadidrone.com/index.php/dr ... u4d-x.html

It flies on 10S 5000 and gets an hour of flight time with no payload.

Huge props are the way to go for long flight duration due to the higher efficiency. Redundancy and stability are not as good as octos or hexes though.

There's at least $5,000 worth of just electronics and motors and stuff in it. There is a huge difference in the pricing of hobby beater quads and the high level stuff.

Yes, but is it really that much better, or are the customers paying those prices because they expect things to cost a lot?

Along this topic, will paint stay on CF? My friend Andrew that does the hydrodipping and i were talking this week about trying to do some heli blades or props. He's been doing a lot of Taranis cases and we were trying to think of other things that would be in the same vertical. You have to paint anything for the film to stick, but like on the OPQ frame the paint would not stick to it and eventually it peeled off. I'm thinking of getting a set of DT520 blades from OFH and having him try them to start with. What do ya'll think?
