Practice may not make (me) perfect but persistence (and a heap of spare props) will pay off, eventually

I dont think my 50 year old reflexes and eyes will ever allow me to do this at 100Kph like the kids but its fun trying.

Except for the colors, nothing remarkable...

No filters used...just the fading sunlight...

Captured over a cotton field by a rest stop, somewhere on I-95, North Carolina...

Wow! Thanks for mentioning my videos on the show :-) As the long time listener* that I am, I feel deeply honored.
You wondered which FPV system I use and what range I get with that. Right now I use Boscam 2.4GHz 500mW video transmitters and a lawmate 2.4 video receiver. I use the stock rubber duck antenna on the transmitter and a 11dBi yagi antenna an the receiver. On my Ritewing Z2 I use the Scherrer UHF and on my Ritewing Z3 the EZUHF.
I honestly don't know what the maximum range is with those setups as I don't want to take it to the limits. I only want enough range to be able to do some nice mountain surfing. I never needed to fly further than 6km to do that. Both video and RC link are still close to perfect at that distance.
I believe a simpler setup is a safer setup. Therefore I fly without stabilization, autopilot or antenna trackers. The complexity of an FPV setup is increased a lot by those features and so is the number of possible failure points.

- Jonas

*Chris, do you remember that listener from Germany that contacted you in May 2010 to tell you about that „new“ FBL system called BeastX and those 40min electric heli flights? That was me ;-)

Jonas, you are quite welcome! Your videos are always great, and also some of the few model-related videos I've shared with Liz that made her say "WOW!" :)

And yes, I do remember that! :D
