As those of you who were there already know, I had a run of good karma and won the pilot raffle at the Helis Over Apache Pass funfly last weekend. And my prize was a shiny new VBar Control radio and receiver!
I got it set up on my Mini Protos (my only VBar-equipped heli) and after some initial trouble getting the ESC to arm, got it going. It may be placebo effect, but then again maybe not.... I think version 6 + VBC flies
better than it did with 5.3 / Taranis. And that's saying something, because it was damn good!
I still need to get the talking switches and timers talking, and as soon as my order from Mikado USA arrives, I'll be setting up telemetry and fitting a VBar on the Goblin 570. The 380 will need to wait till I sell the iKons.
Speaking of Mikado USA, I'm very impressed with their service. I posted a question about the ESC arming on HeliFreak, and within minutes had a PM from Ryan (director of marketing at Mikado USA) who asked me to email my question so their support team could address it. Turns out I figured it out before needing to do that, but the offer was nice. They ship fast too! I placed my order at 2:48pm yesterday, and it shipped at 3:05! And about that order.... my free radio cost me almost $500 in accessories of course.
Anyway, so far so good. It's a really nice radio, very clean internal layout (yes, I've had it open). Ergonomics is good, and I like the ease of setup. Do I wish accessories were cheaper? Of course. But.... well, it's Mikado.
